Scary Tale
|
Walking home in this bleak darkness I come across a lake. A crescent moon lights only a few of the pines in the dark midnight. The salty scent of the darkened aquarium strikes my nose. Peering through the veiling mist I see a figure lying, lying on the lakeshore. The water is quite cold and shallow where the shadowy being rests. I come upon it and examine the pale skin of the mysterious figure. It is a corpse. A corpse of a fisherman who lost his balance on his boat and drowned in the murky water, where no one could have come in time to save his poor soul. Only a few hours seem to have passed from the man’s death. I stare into its eyes, both closed on a face motionless with terror of the threat of death. All of a sudden, the eyes snap open like the wings of a bee. The corpse gives out a loud shriek and rises in front of me. Another time it shrieks and I therefore am running, running for morning’s peaceful dawn, terrified of the violent sunset that could overcome me. Through the woods it is chasing me, and I cringe from every shriek and moan. I am dodging and pushing away branches that could be like tentacles for my capture. Every step I take is mirrored, every leap is overcome by this demon. The forest is an unforgiving place for my chase. The forest is a world in itself, a neverending place that sends my despair even farther. Coming to a river I leap with all my might, and the undead being follows. I wished to have seen another living soul, that I might receive some assistance from the impending beast. Running I spot a cabin, a safeguard from the shadowy monster. There are no people there, and it is empty. My last few dashes were rather joyful, as I was to reach my destiny: life. I open the door. No one is there. I slam the door behind me, and realize in the darkness that I am no longer alone.
